About the Role:
We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our payroll department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for over 1,500 employees across multiple states. Your primary responsibilities will include managing multi-state tax filings, payroll tax compliance, and end-to-end payroll operations. If you are an expert in payroll accounting, tax compliance, and payroll systems, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced and growing company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for 1,500+ employees across multiple states, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Review and reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy of employee records, earnings, and deductions prior to transmission.

  • Manage and file multi-state payroll tax returns, including income tax, unemployment, and other employer-related taxes.

  • Coordinate with external vendors and internal teams to ensure timely deposit and filing of payroll taxes.

  • Stay current with evolving tax laws and regulations to maintain compliance in all payroll-related practices.

  • Address payroll-related inquiries, providing timely and accurate resolutions for employees and internal stakeholders.

  • Assist with quarter-end and year-end tax filings, including W-2 and 941 reconciliation.

  • Maintain and update payroll systems and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation for internal and external reviews.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of payroll experience, with expertise in multi-state payroll tax filing and processing.

  • Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Oracle, Workday, Ceridian, Paylocity, etc.).

  • In-depth understanding of federal and state payroll tax regulations and filings.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
