We are seeking a dedicated Real Estate Transactions Legal Assistant to support attorneys in the Transactions practice group. This role involves comprehensive support for real estate matters, including closings, post-closing procedures, and title research.
Job Summary: The successful candidate will assist attorneys with researching and managing real estate matters, ensuring smooth handling of transactions from initial inquiries to post-closing processes.
Salary: $65,000
Key Responsibilities:
Title Management:
Request and review title commitments, reports, and certificates of title from abstract companies.
Draft title objection letters, analyze surveys, and draft title commitments.
Request and review title updates, issue certificates or policy endorsements.
Transaction Communication:
Coordinate with various stakeholders including buyers, sellers, realtors, lenders, surveyors, appraisers, title companies, insurance agencies, and taxing authorities.
Ensure all necessary information is gathered for commercial real estate transactions.
Closing Procedures:
Schedule and prepare loan closings, including drafting closing documents (closing statements, affidavits, deeds, tax statements, etc.).
Assist in disbursement of funds, deposit of loan proceeds, and filing of necessary documentation with authorities.
Participate in closings and help ensure compliance with lender, seller, and buyer instructions.
Document Preparation:
Draft real-estate-related documents such as notices of foreclosure, lien notices, authorities to cancel, and more.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform occasional land record research.
Track real estate transactions throughout the year for 1099S reporting.
Collaborate with office management on trust account funds and assist with monthly reporting to title insurance companies.
Supervision:
Work closely with supervising attorneys and occasionally on projects for other attorneys.
Collaborate with the office manager on financial transactions related to real estate closings.
Minimum Qualifications:
5 years of real estate experience in a law firm or lender setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
College Degree
Paralegal Certificate
Notary Public Certification
