The Customer Service Representative coordinates the customer service activities of the office. This includes maintaining all customer and account information. Logs all customer contacts regarding service problems, billing questions, and all other customer related issues. Responsible for verifying that individuals requesting service have no outstanding amounts and determines the deposit amount required from the new customer in the form of cash, surety bonds, certificates of deposit, or an irrevocable letter of credit. Ensure that new and existing premises have been inspected and are in compliance with city codes before service is activated. Transfer the deposits for current customers who are relocating to another address in our service area. Establishes new accounts, creates the appropriate service orders at the customer's request, and forwards them to the appropriate departments. Creates all other service orders for electric, water, sewer, or garbage issues and forwards them to the appropriate departments. Examples: connects, disconnects, rechecks, and complaints. Collects and processes all customer bill payments, post them to the appropriate accounts and works with customers to transition billing to online payments. Each CSR balances their cash drawer daily and turns their bag into the accounting department the following day. Must have the flexibility to adjust to varying work environments and must have the ability to work as part of a team. Must be committed to achieving the highest level of accuracy and must be persistent in performing duties. Must be courteous and tactful in responding to all customers. The Customer Service Representative is an initial point of contact with customers concerning all billing and payment issues.
