TempStaff is seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator on behalf of an established metal fabrication shop in the Jackson Metro / Tri-County area. This is a hands-on manufacturing position responsible for setting up and operating CNC laser cutting machines, CNC press brakes, and other sheet metal fabrication equipment.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with CNC laser cutting and press brake/bending operations, the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and a strong understanding of dimensional accuracy and quality requirements.
The CNC Machine Operator will be responsible for machine setup, production, part inspection, basic troubleshooting, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Pay
$19.00 - $24.00/hour [depending on experience]
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines and CNC press brakes/bending equipment.
Operate manual sheet metal fabrication equipment and other production machinery as needed.
Safely load and unload raw materials and finished parts.
Perform machine setups, changeovers, and tooling changes.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
Measure and verify parts using tape measures, calipers, and other inspection equipment.
Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet required dimensions, tolerances, and quality standards.
Make basic machine adjustments and offset corrections as needed.
Identify and troubleshoot basic machine, tooling, and production-process issues.
Operate additional equipment and perform secondary processes to support production.
Work efficiently across multiple manufacturing processes within the department.
Help minimize scrap, rework, and quality issues through accurate machine operation and inspection.
Assist other machine operators with production and quality requirements when needed.
Perform basic preventive maintenance in accordance with company and equipment requirements.
Report equipment problems and assist with coordinating repairs.
Complete required production, quality, and inspection documentation.
Monitor commonly used production and machine supplies and report replenishment needs.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Follow all company safety, quality, production, and operating procedures.
Perform other production duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of CNC machine operating experience.
Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication or a comparable manufacturing environment.
Ability to perform machine setups and tooling changes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Ability to accurately use a tape measure, calipers, and other measuring instruments.
Solid mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
Strong basic math skills.
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a production team.
Reliable attendance and dependable work habits.
Preferred Qualifications
Forklift certification or prior forklift operating experience.
Experience operating multiple types of sheet metal fabrication equipment.
Experience with CNC machine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
CDL or previous commercial driving experience is a plus, but not required.

CNC Experience Requirement
Qualified candidates must have direct, hands-on experience with both CNC laser cutting and CNC press brake/bending equipment.
Experience primarily involving plasma cutting, CNC milling, machining centers, or other unrelated CNC equipment will not meet the experience requirement for this position.
