Job Summary:
We are seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance, alteration, and repair of buildings and facilities. This is a contract-to-hire position, offering the opportunity to transition to a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits program once hired permanently. In this role, the employee will work across multiple trade areas including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and plastering to ensure the upkeep and functionality of facilities and grounds. The ideal candidate will have general knowledge and hands-on experience in these trades, and a willingness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Pay Rate: $12.60 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repair work on buildings, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and plastering.
- Assist with general facility upkeep, including the inspection of structures to identify needed repairs.
- Address minor plumbing issues such as clogged drains, leaks, and fixture repairs.
- Perform basic carpentry tasks, repaint and plaster interior and exterior surfaces as needed
- Maintain and repair building fixtures, furniture, and hardware as required.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests, including addressing urgent repairs or maintenance issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain work records, report issues, and assist in the inventory management of maintenance supplies and materials.
Qualifications:
- General knowledge and hands-on experience in plumbing, carpentry, painting, and plastering.
- Ability to perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair work in a variety of trade areas.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot basic maintenance issues.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing 50+ lbs., as well as perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to stand, bend, and crouch for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and protocols related to building maintenance.
- Strong communication skills to interact with staff, contractors, and other departments.
