Position Overview
The Accounting Associate plays a vital role in supporting both financial and administrative functions across the organization. This position will handle a wide range of duties including accounts payable, payroll, benefits administration, procurement oversight, bank reconciliations, tax filings, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across departments and managing sensitive data with accuracy and discretion.

Key Responsibilities
Procurement and Vendor Relations
Process and track purchase orders and requests for goods/services.
Review and approve purchase requests for budget and compliance accuracy.
Monitor procurement for discrepancies, maintain documentation, and ensure competitive bidding procedures.
Human Resources & Employee Relations
Onboard new employees in the payroll system; manage updates to personnel records.
Handle employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and HR policies.
Administer benefits enrollment/termination and ensure compliance with labor laws.
Payroll and Tax Management
Oversee bi-weekly payroll processing, tax withholdings, garnishments, and benefit deductions.
Submit payroll tax filings and prepare W-2s and 1099s.
Manage employee IRA contributions and records in compliance with regulations.
Financial Operations and Reporting
Process accounts payable, reconcile financial accounts monthly.
Assist with budget development, financial forecasts, and annual audits.
Prepare internal and external financial reports.
Handle accounts payable for housing programs and invoice processing for childcare and tenants.
Monitor and report on bingo inventory and real estate tax payments.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field (required).
Experience
2–3 years of experience in accounting, financial management, HR/payroll administration, and procurement.
Experience with federal grants and nonprofit financial reporting preferred.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in QuickBooks (or similar accounting software), Microsoft Excel, and Google Workspace.
Familiarity with grants management software and payroll systems.
Core Competencies
Strong knowledge of GAAP, federal grant guidelines (OMB Uniform Guidance), and payroll/tax regulations.
Excellent communication skills; ability to clearly convey financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
High attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical thinking.
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and handle confidential data responsibly.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $47,000 - $52,000
